Ms. Laffer’s Grade 3 Students Study Veterans Day

Friday November 12th 2021

In honor of Veterans Day, Ms. Laffer’s Classes 3-212 and 3-211 learned in Social Studies, that a veteran is a person who has fought for our freedom and our country – Navy, Army, Air Force, Marines, and Coast Guard. Our nation honors the men and women who have bravely served our country over the years; those who have risked their lives to make the world a safer and better place for us all. In reading groups, the students read an article about Veterans Day, and answered comprehension questions. They each wrote a “Retell” about what they learned. Ms. Laffer brought in pictures of her grandfathers who served in World War Two. Her paternal grandfather Hy served in the U.S. Army, and her maternal grandfather Alex served in the U.S. Navy. The class learned that although we celebrate Veterans Day every year on November 11, we should remember to honor our veterans every day!
