When Dr. Dumont, Director of School Psychology, joined the YCQ administration in July, one of her goals was to expand social-emotional culture within the school community. As such, teachers have been participating in ongoing workshops with her since October. Training has focused on understanding the social-emotional needs of our students, teaching the cognitive behavioral theory to improve classroom management, and the importance of building stronger alliances with our students. We are looking forward to continuing these workshops throughout the rest of the year.
“Our most recent workshop included strategies for building stronger connections with our students to promote improved learning in the classroom. Teachers were enthusiastic and engaged, asking questions, and contributing personal experiences to enhance the material,” reported Dr. Dumont.
